Yoga: A Tool For Christians In Your Spiritual Life - CANCELLED
Week 1 - Overview and Yoga's 10 Guiding Principles
Yoga can be a wonderful tool in your spiritual life as a Christian. In this session we will:
• Walk through an overview of the 4-week series
• Discuss Yoga's 10 Guiding Principles and their harmony with Bible scriptures and principles
• Practice simple yoga moves to help with balance and joint mobility
Week 2 - Yoga Moves
Your body is the temple of the Spirit. We need to honor our bodies for that
special service. Yoga moves help condition your body so the Spirit feels welcome
and at home living in/through you. In this session we will:
• Learn easy yoga moves to condition and honor your body as the temple of the Spirit
• Turn yoga poses into prayers to connect closer to God through your body
Week 3 - The Breath of Life
In the beginning, God breathed life into Adam. God continues to breathe life into
us with every breath we take. In this session we will:
• Learn yoga breathing techniques that connect us to the life-giving breath of God
• Learn to use your breath to be calm and present in your daily activities
• Practice yoga poses with specific breathing practices
Week 4 - Meditation
The Bible is rich in references to meditation, yet as present-day Christians, we
sometimes don't know how to meditate. When we learn to meditate, we can
finally get to that quiet state where we can "Be still and know that I am God." In
this session we will:
• Practice a yoga sequence to prepare body and mind for meditation
• Learn how to meditate on the scriptures
• Draw nearer to Jesus through a guided meditation
From the Yoga Instructor:
I've been a student and follower of Jesus and Bible principles as long as I can remember. I love God and want to live my life with purpose - the God-purpose for which I was created. I began taking yoga classes in 1998 and fell in love with it in my first class. Yoga had something different from any other exercise or activity I had ever done - not only were my body and mind involved, but my spirit was too! I didn't quite understand it, but I had to find out more. Yoga is a blessing in my life for my physical health, my mental and emotional well-being, and as a tool to develop my spiritual life too! It has helped me in my life as a Christian in ways that continue to amaze and humble me. Because I have been so blessed by the practice of yoga, I love to share it with others so that you too can be blessed. I created Yoga For Real www.yogaforreal.com). It's yoga for real people...
for real life... for real results. I look forward to sharing yoga with you soon. God bless you. Cheri Harvey
The cost of the four session series is $80 per person, paid at the first session (cash or check only).
